The Armenian national section of the International Board on Books For Young People (IBBY), has nominated the children’s writer Nouneh Sarkissian, the wife of the Fourth President of the Republic, Armen Sarkissian for the most important children’s literary award, Hans Christian Andersen Award 2024.

A few days ago, within the framework of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, which was also attended by the director of the National Children’s Library named after Khnko Aper, and the Armenian National Section of IBBY, Ruzan Tonoyan, the executive director of ‘Zangak’ publishing house Emin Mkrtchyan, the presentation of Nouneh Sarkissian’s book ‘The Adventures of Bluey and Pinky’ took place.

It is worth to mention ‘The Adventures of Bluey and Pinky’ has been distinguished for excellence and nominated by the Armenian National Section of IBBY for the IBBY Honour list 2022 as an ‘Outstanding Book’.

Nouneh Sarkissian’s ten-year-old granddaughter Savannah Sarkissian, who also participated in the presentation, and is the co-author and illustrator of the book, noted that her grandmother grew a passion for books from her young age: ‘I wish all children could have the opportunity to write and smile and share ideas with their grandparents or parents. It helps to strengthen their imagination and their bond with their families.’

It should be noted that Nouneh and Savannah Sarkissian are preparing the sequel to the book ‘The Adventures of Bluey and Pinky’, which promises to take children and grownups to the interesting world of fairy tales.
